Das Ist Was Das Ist

What's this! A Nazi lamp post? This one's on the corner of 5th and Mission (I think), across the street from the bastion of journalistic depression that is The Chronicle. Don't know what's going on here, but this is a pretty tolerant city for all kinds of lifestyles.

Donnerwetter!

And just to offset the fascist imagery, here's a teddy bear. Aww!

A cute teddy bear. Not Nazi at all.

Banksy #4

A-ha! A throwback to the previous Banksies (here, here, and, mmh, here,) I stumbled on a fourth Banksy piece -- this one on Sycamore alley, corner of Mission. After seeing his work in the city and other places, like Paris and London, his stuff makes me feel like home, for some reason. Something familiar in a strange place, I suppose. Which reminds me of...

Yup, it's him alright.

Got a close-up since I could get close up.

...a funny story! Some graffiti guy (I think his name was Sean) saw me taking pictures of the graffiti on Clarion some months ago and he was really sort of staring at me but trying not to give himself away. He'd been watching me for a while and when I passed him, he semi-hissed "Banksy!" at me under his breath. I didn't realize this at first but I put two and two together when he approached me a little bit later, ostensibly asking the time. Fool, I gotcha! But I think he realized his mistake, too. Still, you never know -- no one's seen the bastard. Could be me. Could be you.
